The Gallipoli Campaign took place from 25 April 1915 to 9 January 1916. It's objective was to seize Constantinople and secure a sea route to Russia through the Dardanelle Straits. After 8 months of hard fighting, the Allies withdrew to Egypt, ceding victory to the Turks. The surge of national pride in this victory led directly to the declaration of the Republic of Turkey eight years later.
In Australia and New Zealand, the landing of 25 April is commemorated as "ANZAC Day", the most significant such holiday in those countries. It surpasses even Remembrance Day, called Armistice Day in the U.S. These figures from King & Country aim to bring the fierce fighting of the landing to life in vivid detail.
