King Henry was of the Lusignan family dynasty and was the King of Cyprus as well as the last ruling King of Jerusalem. During his reign, the Mamluks conquered the majority of the Kingdom of Jerusalem with the city of Acre being one of the last bastions holding out. Henry was present for the Siege of Acre in 1291, but escaped back to Cyprus before the end of the battle. He continued to rule Cyprus prosperously after this and even planned to return to Jerusalem to reclaim his kingdom, but it never came to be.
