First Legion
First Legion presents Caesar's 10
th Roman Legion at the
Battle of Alesia! The 10
th Roman Legion, made famous in Caesar's own commentaries, was personally levied by
Caesar himself and was his most trusted Legion. They chose the Bull as their emblem and were known as Equestris because at one point Caesar had mounted them on the horses of allied Gallic cavalry to escort him to a peace conference with the German King, Ariovistus. They played a crucial part in Caesar's Gallic Campaigns, fighting in nearly every major engagement.
The 10th Legion is presented here in battle formation, heavily engaged with the enemy; either during on open field battle or manning the Alesia siegeworks. The 10th was lead by Centurion Gaius Crastinus, until his death at Pharsalus, and they will do their duty for their General Julius Caesar in life or in death!
An Optio relays the orders of his Centurion to the Legionaries, shouting to be heard.
