First Legion
The Waffen-SS was created as the armed wing of the Nazi Party, and during the war it eventually expanded to 38 divisions. They fought on both the Eastern and Western fronts theatre alongside the Heer Divisions of the German Army. The Waffen-SS were usually given the highest priority on equipment and were initially recruited from the most loyal and highly trained soldiers. The SS were known to be highly effective soldiers and the tank divisions in particular were feared by the Allies.
First Legion's Battle of Normandy range expands with these extremely flexible military miniatures. The figures can be used as Panzer Grenadiers from nearly any Waffen-SS division including 12th SS Hitler Jugend, 1st SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, 17th SS Gotz von Berlichingen, 2nd SS Das Reich, 9th SS Hohenstaufen, or 10th SS Frundsberg. The artists at First Legion intended these figures as members of the 17th SS opposing the US Paratroopers at the Battle of Bloody Gulch, as seen in the HBO mini-series Band of Brothers. However, they can represent any of the formations mentioned above. The US Paratroopers (NOR001-012) now have some opposition as the Waffen-SS take the field!
Enemy armor is always best neutralized quickly, and this grenadier readies a Panzerfaust to do just that.
