W. Britain's  #17263 Field Marshal von Blücher - Matte Finish

With the return of Napoleon from exile in 1815, Blücher resumed command of all the Prussians in the low countries. He met Napoleon at Ligny on June 16, 1815 and suffered defeat. During the battle, he was unhorsed and wounded but managed to make an adventurous escape. Two days later, after evading pursuing French forces, Blücher made the timely juncture with Wellington's British forces. This resulted in victory at Waterloo.

After this distinguished military career, he retired to his estate and died on September 12,1819. Although rough and ill-educated, Blücher was a man of courage and common sense. His soldiers nicknamed him "Old Forward".
