These figures from the SS Fallschirmjager Battalion 500/600 are as they would have appeared in the final days of Germany’s last gamble ‘Wacht am Rhein’ or more popularly known as ‘The Battle of the Bulge.’
Two companies of Battalion 500/600 were attached to SS Panzer Brigade 150 under Otto Skorzeny for the above operation; this was the only occasion where the Battalion fought against the western allies.
Thom Gunn's set comprises of 3 figures going into action with one figure even wearing his issue respirator minus canister as a precaution against the fumes generated from firing these early anti tank weapons. A second member of the squad prepares another round to reload the anti tank weapon whilst a third member runs forward to help finish off the allied armour should his comrades be unlucky in their aim.
