During World War II the APC-T M6281 and HE Shell M48A2 shells for the M5 3-inch anti-tank gun were usually shipped in water resistant cardboard tubes with metal end caps. Two of these protective cardboard tubes were then packed in wooden shipping crates with the important information such as type of round, explosive filler, steel or brass case, tracer symbol (if applicable), weight, lot number, and shipping description. Unpainted crates were lettered in black, and olive drab crates were usually lettered in yellow. In addition to open crates, closed crates, shipping tubes, and fixed rounds we have included empty shell casings for your displays.
