The Algemeine SS or ‘General’ SS were recruited all over Germany and served the Party on a full–time or part–time basis. Not to be confused with the ‘Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler’ although both wore the same black uniform and were under the overall command of Reichsfuhrer Heinrich Himmler.
