Del Prado SNC035 Trooper, French Dragoons, 1809

Following the final capitulation of Blucher and the Prussians after the battles of Jena-Auerstadt in October 1806, Napoleon set his sights on the Russians. To this end he called up fresh recruits from France as well as from his allies, including 15,000 of Spains best troops under their finest general, the Marquis of La Romana. Aware that his Spanish ally was double dealing, they would serve the double purpose of supplying him troops and acting as de facto hostages.
