USMC070
King & Country
An advancing ‘Leatherneck’ with the classic M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle better known as the BAR. Although this weapon did not actually see action until late 1918 it did not become standard issue until 1938 when it was issued to squads as a portable light machine gun.
The BAR saw extensive service in both WWII and Korea before being finally retired from regular U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps use in the mid 1950s. Eventually in 1957 it was replaced by the introduction of the M60. Our Marine is also wearing the 6 larger pouches that could hold 6 individual magazines of 20 rounds in each.
