First Legion

This is a Damaged NAP0429 Saxon Guard du Corps Standard Bearer by First Legion.

There is a tassel piece snapped off the flag and the flag pole is bent with paint chipping. Comes in original box.

The Saxons were annexed to the French Empire in 1806 and after the War of the Fifth Coalition in 1809, it was clear the army needed a reorganization along the lines of the more modern French army. Saxony eventually joined the coalition of Allies that opposed Napoleon. First Legion has created a grouping of the unique Saxon Garde du Corps to expand Napoleon's forces, or possibly the Coalition if assembling a display of hand painted miniatures taking place during the War of the Seventh Coalition.

It was a high honor to carry the standard, and it took a brave man to do it. Claiming an enemy standard was considered an act demonstrating great strength and of utter defeat for the unit that lost its flag.
