The English Civil War is the story of three connected conflicts that consumed the British Isles between 1642 and 1651. Its outcome was threefold: the trial and execution of King Charles I, the abolition of the monarchy entire and the establishment of a Commonwealth, and the rise of a remarkable soldier and politician: Olive Cromwell.
