First Legion
The 2nd Lancers of the Imperial Guard, the legendary Red Lancers join Napoleon's Wars courtesy of First Legion! In 1810 the regiment was recruited in Holland after the French annexation, the Dutchmen served with distinction during all campaigns between 1812 and 1815. The 1812 Russian Campaign all but destroyed the regiment and the replacements were primarily Frenchmen. Eventually being one of the few original Dutch was a source of great pride. With their striking red uniforms, fearsome lances, and superb commanding officer Colonel Edouard Colbert, the Red Lancers of the Guard served with great distinction in Russia, Saxony, the low countries, and the 100 days.
