The RAF's top-scoring ace of World War II, Marmaduke "Pat" Pattle was stationed in Egypt when hostilities broke out in 1939. Serving as the Flight Commander of No. 80 Squadron, he flew Gloster Gladiators until the arrival of Hawker Hurricanes in early February 1941. Later that month, when the Italians mounted an aerial offensive, his unit fought alongside No. 33 and No. 112 Squadrons — totaling more than 25 confirmed kills.
This limited edition print captures Pattle (who finished the war with at least 40 victories) during the 1941 campaign, as an enemy G.50 takes its last gasp before tumbling into the sea.
Limited edition print is signed and numbered by the artist.
